Hart van Coke-verslaafde klopt nog

This is a rare look at an explanted heart immediately following removal from a patient who abused cocaine for more than 15 years! This heart suffered from a dilated cardiomyopathy (it was more than 3 times the size of a normal heart!). Upon removal, it was not manually paralyzed by the surgeon because the heart was ordered to be immediately sent to the pathologist. The heart continued to beat for over 25 minutes outside of the body!
